Elon Musk's xAI Buys His Social Media Platform X

BoliviaInteligente
Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, has acquired his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), in an all-stock deal valuing xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion. Musk called it a move to integrate data, models, compute, distribution, and talent, further intertwining the companies. xAI, founded in 2023 to rival OpenAI, already embedded its AI chatbot, Grok, into X, but this deal cements their synergy under one umbrella.
Shares of both companies will convert into a new entity, xAI Holdings Corp., a move executives see as key to attracting investment. Musk, who also leads Tesla and SpaceX, bought X for $44 billion in 2022, but its value has since dropped due to $12 billion in debt. Now, with AI at its core, X is evolving beyond social media, reinforcing Musk’s vision of an AI-driven future.

Apple Prepares for M5 iPad Pro and MacBook Pro Release

Dmitry Chernyshov
Apple’s M5 chip is set to debut in at least two devices this year, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. The M5 iPad Pro has entered late-stage testing and is on track for production in the second half of 2024, while the M5 MacBook Pro is expected this fall, aligning with Apple’s usual release cycle.
However, the iPad Pro won’t get Apple’s in-house modem just yet—that shift is slated for 2027 with the M6 models, which Apple has already begun early development on. The company introduced its first in-house modem, the C1, with the iPhone 16e in February, and so far, it’s performing well.

YouTube Tests New System for Reducing Notifications

Alexander Shatov
YouTube is testing a change that stops push notifications from channels viewers don’t actively engage with, even if they’ve selected “All” notifications. The goal is to reduce notification overload and prevent users from disabling them entirely. Notifications will still appear in the inbox, but if someone hasn’t interacted with a channel despite recent alerts, they won’t get push notifications.
Creators often rely on notifications to drive views, but “All” notifications include more than just new uploads—leading many to mute them at the app level instead of adjusting settings. YouTube hopes this tweak keeps notifications manageable without cutting off engagement entirely.

Taylor Swift and Elon Musk Can Hide Their Flight Data Now

Chris Leipelt
The FAA now allows private aircraft owners to request that their registration details—like name and address—be kept private, a move that could disrupt celebrity jet trackers. Mandated by the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, the system aims to shield “personally identifiable information,” with the FAA also considering making privacy the default.
This change complicates efforts to track celebrity flights, which have gone viral for exposing the jet use of Elon Musk, Taylor Swift, and others. Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have banned such accounts from their platforms, and in 2023, Swift even sent a cease-and-desist letter to tracker Jack Sweeney.
