Ilya Sutskever’s Safe Superintelligence Raises $2B

Gene X Hwang

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), the AI startup led by OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, has raised an additional $2 billion, bringing its valuation to $32 billion, according to the Financial Times. This follows an earlier $1 billion round, with Greenoaks reportedly leading the latest investment. SSI has remained tight-lipped about the funding, and its website offers only a mission statement about its goal: creating a safe superintelligence.

Sutskever, who left OpenAI in May 2024 after a failed attempt to oust CEO Sam Altman, founded SSI with Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy. Despite the significant funding, the company's ambitious product remains under wraps, with little visible progress beyond its stated mission.

Tesla Owners Are Selling Their Cars In Record Numbers

Paul Steuber

A growing number of Tesla owners are selling their vehicles, driven by backlash against Elon Musk’s political actions and the global protests they’ve sparked. In March, used Teslas listed on Autotrader.com jumped by 67% compared to the same week last year, with over 13,000 vehicles for sale in the final week alone, according to Cox Automotive.

Meanwhile, Tesla's new vehicle sales have slowed, while overall EV sales continue to rise. Nearly 300,000 new electric vehicles were sold in the U.S. in Q1 2025, a 10.6% increase, while Tesla's sales fell by almost 9% year-over-year.

Netflix Is Testing a New OpenAI-Powered Search

Matoo.Studio

Netflix is testing a new OpenAI-powered search feature that allows users to find content in more personalized ways, beyond traditional methods like genres or actor names, Bloomberg reports. The search engine lets users specify criteria based on their mood, such as asking, “Show me something to cheer me up” or “Show me something that doesn’t challenge my brain.”

Currently available to a small group of iOS users in Australia and New Zealand, the feature is expected to roll out in the U.S. in the coming weeks. However, it's still unclear whether it will be available on smart TVs and other devices.

Blue Origin Readies Launch With All-Female Crew

ELLE

Blue Origin’s eleventh space tourism launch, NS-31, will take six women on a 10-minute flight aboard the New Shepard vehicle. The crew includes pop star Katy Perry, "CBS Mornings" co-host Gayle King, and scientist Amanda Nguyen, among others. The flight will feature about 10 major milestones, from engine ignition to a parachute-aided soft landing in the Texas desert.

Scheduled for 9:30 a.m. EDT on Monday, April 14, the launch will be livestreamed 90 minutes before liftoff on Blue Origin’s website, YouTube, and X. The flight marks a historic milestone as the first all-female space crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo mission in 1963.
